On Friday 10th May 2019, we are delivering our third business breakfast seminar focused on social value with Westminster Business Council and Landsec.
Great design in housing, supported by clear and achievable social value goals, is leading the way to help solve challenges around inclusion and opportunities for all, whilst delivering outstanding places for people to live. In this seminar, we will explore what social value means for the UK housing sector, and what steps we are taking in the capital to use social value to future-proof housing and regeneration.
The event will be Chaired by Councillor Tony Devenish, a long-serving Westminster City Councillor for Knightsbridge and Belgravia, and a London Assembly Member, where he is Chairman of the Regeneration Committee, as well as being involved in the Planning and Housing Committees. Councillor Devenish will mediate a panel of industry leaders who specialise in social value delivery and are passionate about future-proofing UK housing. We will learn what is required of us from leading London councils, what developers and clients require from their supply chain to design and build responsibly, and take away what we can do to implement social value in housing and regeneration projects.
On the panel we will hear from:
Councillor Darren Rodwell, Leader of the Council London Borough of Barking & Dagenham
Deirdre Armsby, Director of Place Shaping and Town Planning at City of Westminster, Westminster City Council
Beth West, Head of Development, London Portfolio, Landsec
Sophie Goddard, Senior Environment and Sustainability Manager, Balfour Beatty
Fiona Clark, Practice Director, David Miller Architects
Following the panel debate, there will be two Pecha Kucha style presentations from those already using social value to create thriving communities; Wilson and Partners and Peter Brett Associates, showcasing best practice on their social value delivery and demonstrating the reasons why it’s important to their organisations and the wider industry.
Improving Housing and Regeneration Through Social Value – Friday 10 May, 8.00am to 10.30am; Landsec, 80-100 Victoria, London, SW1 5JL.
