David Miller is honoured to have been invited to share DMA’s experience as a keynote at the “Why Implement BIM for 2020” conference on June 27th. DMA’s connection with Chile’s digital agenda started back in 2015 when a group of delegates was received by the RIBA where David spoke. Carolina Soto Ogueta who was part of this, now heads up PlanBIM, the Chilean governmental initiative dedicated to the implementation of BIM throughout their ministries. This initiative formally started in 2016, shortly after the group’s visit to London, and is promoted by the Ministry of Economy and the Economic Development Agency of Chile (CORFO). Their goal is to procure most of their public projects using BIM by 2020 and the conference in June aims to share case studies from home and abroad to promote the adoption programme.
In May, as part of the lead up to the conference, DMA were also pleased to welcome to the office a group of 13 visitors from the Chilean Chamber of Construction where David talked about BIM implementation, ROI and digital innovation. Organised with Digital Built Britain, these ongoing missions are part of a government level arrangement between the UK and Chile to share BIM knowledge to support trade growth between our two countries.
