The scaffolding has just come down at College Park School in the Bayswater Conservation Area. Part of Westminster City Council’s secondary education building programme, this new school will provide education and support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The elevations are a contemporary take on the traditional streetscape, using materials to match the surrounding buildings. Moving forward, works will focus on the remaining internal spaces, with the project due to complete before the end of the year.
At Oaklands School in Tower Hamlets, steelwork has just gone in for the ‘street canopy’ that protects the space between the old and new building. The works included the remodelling and extension of a Victorian building, the refurbishment of a 1990’s building and the construction of a new build block for Arts & Humanities, as well as the introduction of new roof-top play areas. This final phase of the project completes the new build block and the hard landscaping around it, and is scheduled to finish by Christmas.
These are the sixth and seventh projects that DMA have worked on together with their client Bouygues UK.
