Does BIM help smaller practices punch above their weight?

This week, David Miller spoke to an audience of small consultancies at the Industry Advisory Council event sponsored by Autodesk Ltd. The question discussed was “Does BIM help smaller practices punch above their weight?”. At DMA, we have found that being able to develop the design in a single 3D model without having to switch between drawing programmes, the improved quality control that we have been able to introduce, together with the collaborative benefits between consultants, contractors and clients make the answer to this question, yes. The other speaker was Bob Barton of Barton Engineering, who are also at the forefront of Building Information Management (BIM) technology. The event was held at Burgh House in Hampstead and concluded with a tour of Goldfinger’s Willow Road house.
