DMA becomes ISO14001 certified

Sustainability is a real priority for the office with the buildings that we design and in the way that we manage the office. We believe that it is something that adds value for our clients, bringing down costs and reducing carbon emissions and landfill waste. In addition, our commitment to BIM helps us to reduce waste within the design process as well as the buildings themselves.

This month, Maureen Sumner Smith of the British Standards Institution visited the office to award us our ISO14001 certificate. This is the internationally accepted standard that sets out a framework for putting an effective environmental management system in place in order to reduce environmental impact. We already had policies in place to manage our office environment and for the buildings we design, but this gave us the opportunity to formalise them, and to give clients confidence in a robust approach that will continue to improve.

Tracy Bennett, our practice manager, has led the process of putting the procedures in place, and it was a proud moment for the whole team who have worked hard to gain the accreditation.
