Balfour Beatty BIM Expo

DMA was delighted to be able to join Balfour Beatty’s forward thinking seminar last week which focused on unlocking new ways of collaborative working through BIM (Building Information Modelling). Hosted at Salford University’s impressive THINKlab facility, this international event was a combination of high profile speakers – including Paul Morrell, the government’s chief advisor on the construction industry – as well as workshops. DMA presented in the “Reviewing the 3D Model” session sharing the experience of projects which the practice has developed.
The two day event finished on a high with a live “BIM Storm” using Onuma software. The exercise demonstrated the power of BIM to optioneer in real time in a fully informed way. Linking input and data from parties across the US as well as from the team in Salford, this fast paced and creative demo made it easy to appreciate how this approach could add value. A truly inspiring and exhilarating experience!
